PAHS Students at FBLA Leadership Conference

The Port Angeles High School Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America competed at the Washington State FBLA Business Leadership Conference held in Bellevue, Washington on April 10-13, 2019.

This conference had over 1,800 students attending from 150 chapters throughout the state. Fourteen members of the Port Angeles High School FBLA Chapter participated in the conference along with advisors Pam Helpenstell and Bernie Brabant.

Please congratulate the following students for their results in these categories:

  • Talia Anderson, Anne Edwards and Abby Sanders – First place in Digital Video Production
  • Amelie Atwater and Meiqi Liang – First place in Local Annual Chapter Report
  • Talia Anderson – Second place in Certified Microsoft Office Word Specialist
  • Amelie Atwater – Fifth place in Accounting I
  • Leo Ahlburg and Josh Hill – Eighth place in Marketing
  • Meiqi Liang – Eighth place in Management Decision Making
  • Hollund Bailey – Eighth place in Job Interview
  • Amelie Atwater and Meiqi Liang – Ninth place in Entrepreneurship
  • Luke Gavin – Ninth place in Introduction to Parliament Procedure
  • Leo Ahlburg, Mauritz Ahlburg, Hollund Bailey, Santiago Montal and Andrew Pena – Tenth place in Parliamentary Procedure Team

Those that earned fourth place and up are eligible to advance to the National Conference in San Antonio, TX in late June (June 27-July 3, 2019), but may choose only one event to enter.

From PAHS, Meiqi Liang, Amelie Atwater, Anne Edwards, Abby Sanders and Talia Anderson, all first-place finishers, will go to Nationals in San Antonio.

Josh Hill, Luke Gavin and Leo Ahlburg will find out next week if they will be able to go to Nationals. Students from other districts may have qualified in more than one event but may only choose one to compete in at Nationals, which opens spots for others who placed fifth through tenth.

Future Business Leaders of America is committed to preparing today’s middle and high school students to become the business and community leaders of tomorrow. Over 5,000 students from 160 chapters in Washington State participate in events, conferences, and competitions.
