Spring Break BagsTo receive a BREAK BAG please fill out the linked application, print it and return it to your child's school by Monday, March 4, 2019: Application for Break Bag 2019

In partnership with Port Angeles School District, the Port Angeles Food Bank provides Friday Food Bags during the school year for students who are eligible for the Free/Reduced Meal program.  Currently there are around 500 Friday Food Bags that are assembled at the food bank and delivered to the school buildings by volunteers each week.

The Port Angeles Food Bank is offering BREAK BAGS for students whose parents/guardians sign them up for a bag of groceries going into Spring Break.  This year, Spring Break is April 1 - 5, 2019.  BREAK BAGS will consist of fresh produce, fresh dairy, fresh meat, fresh bread, pantry essentials, and dry goods.  Parents who are interested in receiving a BREAK BAG will need to fill out a sign-up sheet to return to their child’s school office by Monday, March 4, 2019. Break Bags sign-up sheets will be included in Friday Food Bags, and each school office will have copies available as well.

(Staff should forward these completed forms to Patsene Dashiell, Communications and Community Relations Coordinator, at the Central Services Building by Tuesday, March 12 latest.)

Students will receive a Friday Food Bag as usual on Friday, March 29.

This is the second year Break Bags have been offered for Spring Break.  Break Bags were offered going into Winter Break for the first time last December.  A short survey about last December’s Winter Break Bags program is included on the Spring Break Bags sign-up sheet for parents to provide feedback.  This information will be considered for future planning of the program.

It is important for parents to note that the BREAK BAG program operates a little differently from Friday Food Bags.  Because BREAK BAGS will be filled with lots of nourishing food, they will be too heavy for students to carry home from school. BREAK BAGS will need to be picked up by parents/guardians or a designated proxy. Parents may telephone 360.452.8568 to arrange proxy pickup.

The pick-up date and time will be Saturday, March 30, 2019 between 9 a.m.—4 p.m.  Pick up location is at the Port Angles Food Bank, located at 402 S. Valley Street (at the garage door), Port Angeles.
